Love, Your thoughts wash my spirit As a pure spring, Love, Your music calms my heart As a rope of guitar, LOve, When I sit near you, The reading is easy, LOve, I trust in the dawn, In the fire which you set, In night that you light, Love, I follow in the desert And the sand caresses my feet, I follow you in the mountain And the snow feeds my heart, Love, Your thoughts are the only music That we can hear from the moon, Love, The castaways Thank the honey of your banks, Love, You round off the earth of your caresses of wind, Love, Your hands are perfumed As soaps of Syria, Your hands transform the clay And shale in idle horses, You are river where to drink, Where to quench one’s spirit, You are the air where take back breath And measure the unlikeliness, That would be we love, Without your song in the rain, That would be we love, Without your song under the sun, Love, I repeat myself like days, You are the fruit of the most ripe tree, Love, let me whisper with you. |

Yann, your poem is what love is all about, but it has to be between people who are right for each other, and it has to be real. Love, in my humble opinion, is not a thing to search for. In my humble opinion, one should search for a person to whom one wants to give one’s all, and therefore one’s love – somebody who wants to give the same back. I love your poem. It is very beautiful and sensitive. Owl |

Dear Owl, you say "love is not a thing to search for .... etc.". Imo, being this a Universal love poem, I would say that LOVE is quite simply something to LIVE. LOVE IS and we just need to be AWARE of its all permeating power. And ... true love is UNCONDITIONAL. When we are able to love someone (or others) who doesn't (don't) love us back then we can say we have come to understand the true nature of love, that kind of pure love Yann speaks of so beautifully. This said, we all dream of a perfect blend with another person, it's this dream that will eventually manifest REALITY. What is real? LOVE IS THE ONLY REALITY WE SHOULD LIVE. quote: Agape Love! Margherita "Love is the One who masters all things; I am mastered totally by Love." (Rumi) |

Yes indeed Owl, love is between two persons, but there is also a nature of love, an idea of purity that I tried to express, I tried to tell the qualities of love independantly of a relationship, idealistic i guess, however I am convinced that what you wrote is true and helpful, thanks for the moving comment, yann |

(de l'italien "insuperabile" ) The French version sounds wonderful to my ear, it is in fact breathtaking. In the last stanza it would sound better in English if you said "What would we be love without ....", but don't worry, the meaning comes through clearly anyway. Thank you, dear Yann, for sharing the poem also in French. Love, Margherita |

Yann and Margherita, I misunderstood that Yann was referring to a romantic love only. What I was trying to express is that love is not an active entity that comes and looks for you if you are lucky. It is a wonderful thing, but it is passive. It is people who do the loving, thus, whether the love that one is talking about is storgé, philia, eros or agapé (as I am sure you both know, are loosely described respectively as deep natural affection, friendship for family and friends, romantic and altruistic charity), it is people who need actively to do the loving. However, I read the poem as a personification of love, and either or any way, the poem is very, very beautiful. Now that I know that you were talking about love in a wider sense, Yann, I find it even more beautiful, and absolutely exquisite in French.

Owl |
