Spirit Hawk (a true happening) A bit of sun warms the early spring morning The sky overhead a listless blue A second cup of coffee in hand I move my chair to the end of the deck Away from the cover of the overhang Absorbing nature and the sun’s weak warmth Against the sleeping blue sky a hawk soars The wing span a magnificent sight Looking at the peach tree I spot tiny buds And below daffodils pushing tips above ground Suddenly a swish, the hawk sweeps by Turns, catches a current and soars Criss-crossing the sky as if hunting Back it comes, sits on the railing Where my arm is outstretched It looks at me and hops forward I'm frozen in wonder as it approaches Puts its head on the back of my hand Turning it back and forth in a caress Stops, looks at me for an eternity then flies off Circles the sky and returns to Drop one treasured feather at my feet Phenomenons of grace Leaving me awe struck and Shrouded in humility. |

Ah, that was his calling card. He will expect a strand of hair the next time he buzzes by you. Enjoyed this, and wasn't expecting the ending. I like those kind of poem, the ones that make you sit up and say, whoa! ~ Plastic surgeons are always making mountains out of molehills. ~ |

Few people would believe the truth of it but it did happen and I know it was a spirit and whose spirit it was. |

It could have been our dear Marge, our beloved Lady of the Moon! In any case she knew of that kind of connection. |

Although it is something I can envision Marge doing I'm pretty sure I know who it is and it's not her. I live in the countryside and its nested somewhere close because now it circles the house several times a day and sometimes swoops down to make sure I know it's close but hasn't landed again. |

I truly was blessed Ida and still am. It now circles the house several times a day but hasn't again landed. Some would say I'm "nutso" but I believe it's a guardian angel and I'm pretty sure who it is. Peace and Love, Marcia www.thewritingforum.net |
