Fate brought us together, To share a small forever, You took my hand in yours, And together we walked the shores. When I saw you I got butterflies, I even got tongue tied. I loved you with all my heart, We were sure we’d never part. We tempted Fate not once, but twice. One ending turned out nice, The second ended in a heart ache, And now a smile I fake. Their words could not set me free. Your sweet name haunts me. The nights I spend alone, Sadness is always shone. How much time has passed? How much more can I last? We were meant for each other, Not you and me with another. If I offered you my hand, Do you think we could return to our water and sand? |

Very well constructed poetry, midnightdreamer. Sometime, most of the time, if the bridge has been burnt you will had an almost impossible task of rebuilding it. I've tried. Never worked for me, maybe it will for you. Good luck. ~ I think we should only read books that wound and stab us.-Kafka ~ |

Like the song goes, "don't it always seem to go that we don't know what we've got 'til it's gone" Your poem is sad and heartfelt, hope fate is good to you. |
