Some people fear clowns Buried deep within The sight of makeup Causes them horror Run from red noses They are just obscene Come from outer space Or W. C. Fields Look at those big shoes Big enough to hold More than feet in there A clown's secret sin That flower that squirts Who really knows what Steal your soul liquid That's what he's about He dances and grins And thinks evil things Deflowers virgins In his corrupt mind We who fear the clown Write these words to warn The most monstrous clown John Wayne Gacy, sic Now that I've told you Beware of the clown I have to go now Put on my makeup ~ Logical argument is what destroys poetry because poetry is beyond logic.—Robert Graves ~ |

I know, Lori. Clowns have a vast arena of emotions to pull from. Thank you. ~ Logical argument is what destroys poetry because poetry is beyond logic.—Robert Graves ~ |

Dang, J.P, this is scary stuff. Think I'll put my 30-30 in the corner tonight, and if I hear my Lab growling, it will alert me that a clown might be lurking. Just kidding..I like the poem, especially the ending. |

Thanks, Ice. I think I was trying for some Twilight Zone when I was doing that poem. By the way, unless that clown is out of Stephen King's, IT novel, you won't need that 30-30, the Lab will do just fine. My uncle had one of those rifles as I was growing up, and he could hit anything, anywhere. He was exceptionally good at hitting the bulls-eye or the eye out of a squirrel who just peeked around that tree for the last time. ~ Logical argument is what destroys poetry because poetry is beyond logic.—Robert Graves ~ |
