My pedestal |

I didn't know before but I survived it all, the rise and falls, the twists and turns, and the all invasive devastating unrequited love. But I acquired somewhere, sometime, a large and solid pedestal for eons now forgotten at the bottom of my bag. I think I'll take it out today; won't you join me please and raise a glass or two or three to all survivors of this world? That's good, yes, yes, it pays, you know, to have pedestals in bags for occasions good and grand but mostly for the bad. The trouble is a time or two I've forgotten its existence and there's simply no excuse for downright neglect. I am today above the land, a survivor on a pedestal dressed casual on a rainy day to be comfortable with me! Helen / 28 April 2011 |

I have heard that pedestals are great for the view, but there is not much room to roam? I imagine you with seat belts and a wicked grin...enjoyed you here lady |

No, but who would want to roam? Just want to stand and shout, "I survived, survived", watch the minions bow, take leave with a bow and then buckle up and get ready to ... fly! Thanks for the read, Mr. Dark. Helen |

Ahaa, I wanted to roam, Helen, very much so. I almost roamed myself to death, quite literally. I understand about the pedestal, however, and although I don't call mine by that name, I too have something I cling to, a reminder that II survived it all. I'll wait until my nighty-nighty glass of vino before I raise that glass, but I WILL raise it. ~ Passionate kiss, like spider web, leads to undoing of fly. ~ |

Don't forget now, Jerry! Cheers! There is, of course, no limit to the roaming as long as we stop every now and again to say, "I survived". |

Giggles at your presentation, but solemn (and simultaneously joyous) congratulations at your positive, strong attitude and your survival, Helen! Owl |

Surviving... A toast to that!! Well done, in a world full of pain and heartstabs (but also love and beauty and joy), you survive! I loved this poem. |

Thanks Ida and Diana. My kind of pedestal is quite ... "uplifting" because once I've stood on it (and shouted silently) I know I'll stand on it again - after what's to come and provided, of course, that I remember that it's there. Cheers! Helen |

Thanks, Dawn. Well, one doesn't know what tomorrow will bring but so far I've survived a lot of (fill in a most un-ladylike word)and I'm celebrating - albeit it "above the land". Helen |

You know your strength and the pedestal is just the symbol of "detachment" from things. You always ponder so beautifully, dear Helen! This very moment I heard that Gheddafi threatens to "bring the war to Italy" ... I very much hope this craziness will stop befor further devastation... as you know I have wings that allow me to fly ... if I survive that is .... wheeew! Love and hugs. Margherita |

That's terrible news, Margherita. I have sort of cut myself off from the news for fear of giving it more momentum with my attention but, oh, yes, I do hope sanity returns soon. I suspect, however, that what is has to be for some grander and long-term purpose - beats me what it is though. And we both know that no matter what our essential selves will survive so ... see you in the air, wings and all. Love Helen |
