SONATA 22 April 2011 Dreams splash into arpeggios and trills and piano paintings of laughter and sorrow and my thoughts rove along grassland paths in blazing sunshine watching buck darting into thickets; and yellow-billed kites taunting high thermals; I jump from stepping stone to stepping stone of a sun-sparkling rivulet and wander into the forest shade along rooted pathways to secret rock-lined pools with little waterfalls and birdcalls and frogsong . . . and I am speechless, rooted to the living-room floor, enraptured, long after the sonata’s last note has faded.
