dawning of a new day or close of a day spent we feel an excitement matters not, matters not we are but passersby we're here for an instant we're gone eternity if we think upon thought and let it die slow death we rob thought of substance we walk though the forest road a sense of quiet takes hold what used to make us sad we pause on our journey find a gnarled cypress tree we sit upon its roots listen to nature's song don't know how we got here don't know how long we'll stay we enjoy the moment as we empty our mind of what we used to think about sincerity pettiness put aside we breathe in earth's perfume listen to nature's voice the beauty surrounds us mists from slow-moving creek the aroma of pine where salamanders dig do we believe in God at times such as this; yes

I've read this several times, and I adore it. The ending packs and punch. Well written and explored. Thanks for sharing it.

Thank you, Lori, and you are always welcome at any soiree I throw and appreciate your attendance and kindness.
The ending, Marcia, was the only way it could have ended and I thank you for understanding and liking it.~ Don't insult the alligator till after you cross the river. ~
