You were button-down shirts, designer ties and Gucci loafers I'm Levis, cowboy boots and T-shirts You were dinner at fine restaurants, the opera and Chopin I'm anything take-out, walks on the beach and mellow jazz You were lobster thermidor, chocolate souffle and cappuccino I'm pizza, ice cream cones and ice-cold beer You were upward mobility, state-of-the-art and cutting edge I'm happy with now, anything that works, and old is comfortable You were the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Time magazine I'm anything by Stephen King, books of poetry, and magazines for writers You were ski trips to Aspen, reservations for a suite, and first-class airfare I'm walks in the countryside, sunsets at the beach, and long drives with no destination You always drank the last of the milk and hoarded the cookies. I now have plenty of milk and my very own Double-Stuf Oreos. |

This is absolutely delightful! I am very similar to you, Marcia, but I must admit I love opera, Chopin, lobster thermidor, chocolate soufflé and cappuccino! However, I get that it is about a misfit affair - and it is very wise to get out of it. Smiles Owl |

Thank you Diana. I never met a lobster or any chocolate I didn't love but for the sake of poetry we'll write just about anything. I say this as Chopin is playing in the background. Cheers! |

Yep. Lies, all lies. How you, Marcia, I mean . . . Oh, okay, I admit to stretching things a bit to get to where I want to be. This was delightful, bald-faced lies that they are. Haha Gotta love it. ~ Don't insult the alligator till after you cross the river. ~ |

Me, I'm all the second lines...wouldn't have made it past about the third stanza with the first lines, I mean give me a pot of good crawfish over lobster any day! ...loved the comparisons though.. enjoyed, my friend. j. |

They say that opposites attract and perhaps they do for a time but ultimately there must be something in common. Enjoyed all your comparisons! Helen |

A spirited way to analyze the "affair". While we are "in it" we don't see any differences, they come only into view afterwards. Greatly enjoyed your take on it. Love, Margherita |

Thank you Margherita. It was a fun write based somewhat on truth. Hugs, Marcia |
