For Lilee . . . If you are directionless, Where should you put your first step? Should you walk or should you run, Hold your fire or blast away? The decisions you must make, Are spiraling out of control. Will I fall, or will I stand, Will somebody point and laugh? You know you cannot stand still, To do so will be your doom. So you aimlessly plod on, Taking measure of the day. Heart palpitating with fear, For that mountain you must climb. Or you could walk around it, But that would take so much time. You conjure up an old friend, To direct you through life's maze. Now you and your own self worth, You two; still up to the task. ~ If you don't want gays in the military, make the uniforms ugly. ~ |

What a sweet thought to write this for Lilee, Jerry! For Lilee too It's good, when you make that old friend, your own self-worth, because the two of you will always be up to it. Sometimes it is good to include another friend chosen with care - one who won't use what you have said against you, nor have a hidden agenda, nor not care. Sometimes one friend can help with one matter and another can help with another. When things get really bad, it is good to sit down calmly and work out what is best for you, rather than what you want the most - then to work out what the best way is to get it in any way that isn't, as my mother used to put it, illegal, immoral or fattening. I dedicated it to Lilee, but I doubt she'll see it. She has never come on my page. I just felt like doing it because of the down and out poem she wrote yesterday. ~ If you don't want gays in the military, make the uniforms ugly. ~ |

Thanks, dreamgal. Sometimes just the appearance of someone who cares can be enough to give someone the courage to fight the fight of life. ~ When your Mom is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair. ~ |

Jerry - It's those bridges of indecision that often stall us when searching for a direction. But it's good to have a friend along when we finally do cross them to keep us both on the right path. Then all we have to do is courageously burn the bridge to prevent any retreat from either of us. This was intriguing Jerry and I enjoyed it. Namyh |

Just a little poem, Lilee, born from many years of head-butting that mountain until I understood my self worth. I'm rooting for ya . . . ~ Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway? ~ |
