I've watched ancient lignite exposed to air, in still evening's gentle light with mourning left for living, turn to ashes without ever shedding heat. Born a wizard too many lifetimes now to care, I do not worry over details turning loose from love's leaving want decaying into dust lost in wind. I'm not asking anyone to share entrails of understanding; when wisdom shatters all belief no discovery walks a beggars' trail. ©2011 by icebox |

I relate to your writing in ways even I don't understand, Mr. Ice, but I always seek out your poetry and save them all. Ida |

quote: Good thing because I have no entrails of understanding to share. What I do have is a true appreciation for how you use words ~ and for the way they tell me a story. Thank you for sharing. You never disappoint me. Alison |

when wisdom shatters all belief That's the core of true evolution of humanity I think. Your poem is very profound and thought provoking as usual, dear Charly. Lignite seems to have little heating power, unlike our hearts where the flame could and should always burn powerfully. Love, Margherita "Love is the One who masters all things; |

Hi Charly - "wisdom shatters all belief" - yes, it does but at the same time must bring in another belief, right? Well, I don't know really because I'm still waiting for wisdom. Good write as usual. Helen |

The depth of your work is often fathomless to me as the sea, but just as captivating. Lori |

turning loose from love's leaving want decaying into dust lost in wind. I'm not asking anyone to share entrails of understanding; ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The sadness is gripping and so painful to read, but read you I do because pretending to ignore the cards we are dealt doesn't change things. Sadly beautiful this is~ [This message has been edited by BluesSerenade (04-09-2011 02:14 PM).] |

I, too, am so glad that poetry is an art form that doesn't require understanding in order to be appreciated. It often does require a few re-reads...which will be a pleasure. Nice write. |

I no longer want to know everything. But you know that. This reminds me of the Biblical enticement to Eve, suggesting that if she and Adam would eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they would be as gods. I know enough to know that I don't want the job. But then, that fruit gave me the runs anyway. *smile* love you. |

Hey Ice...I have to admit I don't always understand them in depth, but that in no way lessens the enjoymnet of the read. j. |

How to put this? This poem, as I read it, appears to be a question. it is a very eloquently worded question, indeed, and yet... Your poems are always appreciated! |
