She talked in her sleep The words kept coming Like the sweet Louisiana taste Of the red October sun She was wrestling in her sleep Her stomach shook Hours upon hours She slept like the coconut islands Where the palm trees seem To sway with the wind As if the fire was her guardian Her body, her white blouse Touching her skin until the slow breathes Of my soul seemed to hold her body close She was wrestling in her sleep Like the diamonds of the coast With her stomach shaking My fingers on her neck My hand resting around her small, delicate waist I could touch so much of myself It would spill over to her Like the washing of ones hands From right to left The water running through the dames Of my slow fingers And I felt alive Alive with her in my arms. |
