you were well within the tree people hiding
behind those cellophane leaves of your gown
the nothing on one you forgot you owned

but it fit you better than your proper skin
you said when you were alone it was comfortable
like the sighs on your fingers sometimes

I was just another day time sky in storm
you said my clouds made shapes on your charms
that looked like lovers doing bad things

and you wished I would move around more
so the shadows could go where we needed to end up
and they could get love started before we did

but we could finish what they began eventually
