Where does the fire of your heart now blaze? Were those not your lips I felt in a kiss? Oh, ‘twas but a sweep of a dreamy haze, A vapour drawn from the ashes of bliss. My hand did once gently mold onto yours -- I thought it a dream that fair would unfold And though your words still do linger in scores, They but a witness of the past untold, Of love’s fallen star, of hearts drawn apart. But if this a burden I am to bear, Then let its sorrow kindly paint my heart In rainbow hues and never run it rare: But what of the newest alluring song, If cannot set true what once was set wrong. This is a very beautiful sonnet, dear Castle Guard. Very elegant in its romantic evolution. Love, Margherita |

Very good writing, the Bard is smiling. The sonnet was made for this type of writing, the lost love, the passion unfulfilled. Excellent! ~ OK, so what's the speed of dark? ~ |

Margherita - thank you for reading and the kind compliment, much appreciated. JerryPat2 - glad I could make the Bard smile, and yes, the sonnet is perfect for a love song, of any tone, and is my favorite form of poetic writing. I love the flow, the progression through its form, and the closing couplet, especially if it contains an unexpected twist or a turn. Again, thank you for reading and commenting. j - thank you, appreciate your stopping by, and glad you enjoyed the read. CG |
