Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Waking up
smelled the coffee
wondered where I was...
today.
Tentatively testing
thoughts
as I inventory
aches and pains
on the way
to answer
nature's calling
I scale the numbers
for the day's
opening note
hoping for hitting
a new low
Routine rolls on
with coffee in bed
poem gnawing in
the back of my head
Fast forward to now
as I look out at
my driveway
and yard
Seeing things
somehow
differently
like something
new in me
has just arrived
I'm here
