colder'n blue blazes preacher standing ramrod straight mouth so cold lips turning blue mouthing verses mouthing verses nobody hears after he speaks them and words pass his mouth only to shatter in the cold, graveyard cold I'm dressed warm not warm enough to stop chattering teeth shivering not all from the wintry blast no their eyes looking at me instead of the preacher even the preacher presented me with a glacial sneer before he started mouthing verses no one hears not supposed to be here I don't care Hungry panther couldn't keep me away I loved her More than anyone did even her husband especially him preacher stopped mouthing silence two strangers walked to flag-draped coffin took it stood in front of the husband she was a veteran folding the flag to precise specifications every fold means something so I've been told the two armed service guys presented the flag to the husband everyone stood whispered among themselves hate-filled eyes darting toward me I remained sitting not part of the ritual would not pretend I was they all left eventually only I remained two men showed up to fill the grave I held up a hand They stepped back I rose and walked toward where she lay knelt at the foot of it tried to speak couldn't tried to pray I couldn't do that either one of the grave men coughed I got up wiped at the tears I left leaving my heart at the bottom of that hole Suicidal twin kills sister by mistake! |

Looks like it is just you and I tonight, faith, and I'm sipping on a glass of vino and getting ready for bed. Thank you for your overly kind words and I will see you tomorrow if permitted. Suicidal twin kills sister by mistake! |

Very touching Jerry. You know how to move a person with your poetry.I once told a person he could not die before I did as I would not be able to atten his funeral and not shed a tear. He said he was thinking of the same thing. So we agreed we would not attend each other's service no matter which of us went first. |

I appreciate that you are reading my postings and commenting on them, latearrival. You and your friend have cinched quite a pack with your agreement. I see a novel forming inside my head using that as a plot. Thanks. Suicidal twin kills sister by mistake! |

You captured the emotion so well Jerry The conflict made this realistic and something many can relate to. Many twists and turns to take on this ride through life's experiences. However, that doesn't erase the genuine feelings of deeply loving someone. Enjoyed thoroughly! Eric |

Appreciate your thoughts, Eric. Sometimes I get the feeling that the whole world is a stage (who said that, the bard from England?) and we really have no say in the speaking, action or thought processes, but are merely moving, doing and speaking as the puppeteer pulls our strings. Of course when that happens I realize that I am truly have acid flashback like everyone told me I would have in years to come. <><><> Lori, thank you for the show of emotion. <><><> I'm strumming, DS, but sometimes the instrument is out of tune. Thanks. Suicidal twin kills sister by mistake! |
