JUST WONDERING 24 March 2011 I was just wondering, when I get to Heaven, if God will let me, into the fascinating secret of how minds work - in general – you know, a sort of prototype - and in groups – of the great thinkers, of those who don’t think at all, of those with hidden agendas, of criminals, of composers, of the scary ones whom music doesn’t touch, of corrupt politicians, of altruistic politicians, don’t laugh, I really believe there are some, well, at least three, and also in very specific minds – mine for example – why my very own solution to world politics came to me in my very rushed bath, this morning, and then there was the Spathodia campanulata issue yesterday, driving home from the computer shop, I saw the tall East African tree, in its large orange-bell splendour, and I could only remember “campanulata” – I hate it when I can only remember the specific name and not the generic name rather than the other way round because that way it is almost impossible to look it up, and then minutes after giving up the search through my mind the generic name sprang into my head and I said “Spathodia” loudly to Gretta, the Jetta and me – and then today when I left work at lunch time to check on Benji and Cleo a song I had taught my French pupils along with many others – “Sous les ponts de Paris”, came into my head, but one line just wasn’t there I could sing the tune of it (well, “sing” is pushing it far too much) and then I remembered the general meaning of it, then the key word and then the line, but with two words that were wrong, but fitted, then two others instead, also wrong and then when I got home without the song in mind at all, while playing ball with Benji “mon marquis” bounced into my mind and I had the whole song. Well, I suppose how my mind works wouldn’t interest anybody else, but it certainly interests me! I wonder if the mind prototype is like a database and based on logical instructions or mechanical like the internal workings of Big Ben or whimsical and based on flower moments in the breeze. I wonder . . . I wonder . . . I love wondering . . . Owl |

Wonderlust? I wonder too. This is wonderful watching your mind work. I think you wonder your way to the collective consciousness and dive right in. You are a very special individual. Lori |

Since I only have this one mind to deal with, and since I have also come up with the solution to the worlds problems taken from the Civil War Hero (to the north) General Grant, and since I sing like a nightingale to his mate, and since I am the wittiest guy I know and just cannot understand why people don't laugh at my witticisms, plus the fact that I have to carry around a HUGE tree limb to beat back the girls, women, AND grandmothers I am actually afraid to ask God much of anything at all concerning my brain and how, what, and why I think as I do, but if you have a good chat with Him let me know I might change my mind. |

Thank you, Lori for the lovely things you said. Most people (outside of poetry forums) find my mind (and me!) weird or boring. I loved the word you coined, "Wonderlust" from "wanderlust"! I have a poem called, "Thinking" and I think of thinking as an actual and exhilerating pastime! I am glad you enjoy wondering too. Owl |

Giggles, Jerry. I know you are laughing at me, but then so am I - and I am also laughing at your witticisms! Owl |

Read this already once yesterday, was fascinated as I am now at the second round. How our mind works is something to lose our mind over, haha! And I love how you wonder and ponder, dear Diana. Just wonder-ful! Love, Margherita |

fine and interesting 'wonderings' indeed! Likely the greatest mystery of 'science' to date is the origin/evolution and nature of human 'consciousness' ... and whether there is perhaps a universal field of 'consciousness' connecting all things across all scales of observation in and around us?! |

I loved reading your wonderings. You raised several interesting questions, which to my own wondering mind, will be answered when we return Home. God is a pretty smart Guy! They say He is omnicient! ![]() Love you! Linda Lou xo |

I love wondering too, Diana. My mind is always racing from one thought to another so that it keeps me awake at night. Ida |

Thanks, Kat. I am not sure how deeply I think, but however deep or not, I find it fun. Thanks, Karilea, for your kind words. I think you may find my mind a lot more boring than you imagine. Thanks, Margherita. Giggles at losing our mind over how the mind works and the “wonder-full”! Thanks, Bruce. There is so much in the world to wonder about. Thanks, Linda. Yep, God is omniscient and omni a whole lot of other things too. However, although this wasn’t what you were talking about, nor what the poem is about, but related to the “omni a whole lot of other things”, He has given us free choice and is not a master puppeteer. He allows us to do what we want, and if we mess things up, and/or don’t learn from our mistakes and those of others, and if we insist on doing irresponsible things, He is not to blame. We need to take responsibility for our actions. He is not a Dictator. He doesn’t force us to accept Him. If we don’t want to, we don’t have to. It is as simple as that. Thanks, Ida. Yes thinking/wondering/pondering is fun and enriching. I am lucky, though, that it doesn’t keep me awake at night. I fall asleep like turning off a light switch, and sleep through thunderstorms and burglar alarms, but not my human babies’ cry (many, many years ago), nor my kitty's meeow, nor my doggy's bark or low growl warning of a prowler.
