It really is a beautiful thing, As much as it is a feeling, Specially sitting around a campfire, In the morning, With the trees just beginning to blossom and bloom, The Mountain Blue Birds and Camp Jays flitting about the pines, New aspen leaves laugh as The gentle wind tickles them, Squirrels scampering around gathering what they can, As they chatter between themselves, The fire crackles as it comes to life, light blue smoke floats up toward a cloudless sky, And the scent of the air is the cleanest thing you have ever experienced, You can smell the grass as it waves, The river as it bubbles over the rocks, winding its way down the canyons, And the ground itself; smells fresh and washed clean from the winter snow. Off in the distance you hear the bugle of the majestic elk, As a small herd of deer; bound through the meadow, The sun is in no hurry to climb over the mountain peaks, But it has been light enough to see for hours, Yet, time has no meaning, You don’t look at clocks; you don’t wear a watch, You eat when you are hungry, You rest when you are tired, You feel a freedom unknown to most, You have an awareness of living, of life, of contentment, An overwhelming joy fills the spirit and soul, And to share it with someone that feels the same, You come to cherish every moment of it. The answer is always NO, Until the question is asked. |

What a wonderful escape from the 5 degrees and 5 inches of snow here. I could feel the warmth of your fire. Lori |

Hah! I've been in the Rockies in the springtime and it was cold as the devil. Poem was very nice though. Love that high country. Suicidal twin kills sister by mistake! |

Keep in mind, Spring goes from March 20 to June 20. In March, most roads are still snowed in. Thank you for your comments on my poem, Take time to get outside and injoy the fresh air when you can. Hope all that read this poem enjoy the visuals, and have a happy new year, Tracey |

Thanks Steaven, I just noticed that you spelled enjoyed correctly, (unlike me) I think that line is my favorite also, but the visual is real to me, North Fork of the Duchesne river, In Eastern Utah is as close to God's country that I have ever seen. |
