FOREST HEARTH 11 January 2006 . Tear-frozen freshly office-damaged and confined by childhood morals and tattletale rules, I looked up and there was a window and there was a forest and there were vermilion sun-smiles from my beloved Bauhinia galpinii and I became a flower, a swan, and my wings lifted me into a lark high over my head singing untainted orange flowerlets. "childhood morals / and tattletale rules" If this doesn't paint a picture EVERYBODY can understand I don't know what will. I'm glad you found you Bauhinia galpinii, and metamorphosed into all those wonderful things. ~ My grandmother is over eighty and still doesn't need glasses. Drinks right out of the bottle. ~ |

v. fine writing! Fabaceae is, of course, the 3rd. largest plant family in the world and includes even the grand 'orchid trees' of Vietnam and S.E. China ... rather happy news for butterflies as well as humans! Methinks that the Bauhin brothers would be honored to have had the Genus named after them?! |

There is much inspiration in your work. You appear to live in a world with spectacular vision of the seen and the unseen. |

Thank you, Margherita. I am happy my poem could do that for you! Smiles. Thanks, Jerry. Glad you enjoyed it. I am glad I looked in the direction of my Bauhinia galpinii too and metamorphosed into all those things too. I love my forest garden. Thanks, Bruce. Yes, the botanical world is such a lovely one to get lost in. I don’t know much about plants in other countries – except the aliens that have been introduced and become invasive – my forte is the indigenous trees and plants of the area in which I live. Thank you, Emma, for your stunning reply. Yes, my corner of the world is a very wonderful part – and I am blessed with the gift of noticing and appreciating every leaf-blade, butterfly, brightly coloured shirt and cloud pattern with great intensity. Smiles. Owl |

Giggles, Linda at your warm response! Thank you. It is SUCH a treat to find Earth Angel again in a poem of her own or a response to one of my poems or to somebody else’s poem! I feel I want to turn around and say to a whole host of people (although there is only Benji and Cleo – and they KNOW only too well that their AUNTIE LINDA IS BACK!) “LOOK WHO IS HERE!” Thank you, Yann for your lovely response. I am delighted at the fact that you appreciate the internal and external structure as well as the heart of my poem. Owl |
