YELLOWBILLED KITE 6 March 2011 Oh, the sweet, sweet savouring of free swirls and dips and, thermal gliding on outstretched wings in a painting’s August home-coming celebration. The three predators whose rifleshots from vastly different directions came in fairly quick succession, way down below, are already on the prowl again for more naïve prey. Owl |

Yann, thank you for your, as always, delightful reply and kind words. It is not your fault you didn’t get it. It is rather obscure. In South Africa, yellowbilled kites are birds that return in August for the summer months. In the poem there were three men who shot at the kite in the poem, from completely different places but all of them missed and the kite was enjoying its freedom. Owl |

Kites are beautiful birds...and as for the men who were shooting at them? They were there for the wrong reasons: hence, they missed! Now, had they had a camera...there y'go! Poetry in motion, are birds! |

With the explanation came the full appreciation, dear Diana. Is there anything more hateful than to shoot at birds who enjoy their freedom!? Glad these kites escaped! Prey is a tremendous word, but somehow we are all at risk! Love, Margherita |

Haha! Did somebody shoot your kite. I'm sorry, but that is funny. Loved the descriptive passages in this poem, and I could very well "see" the plunging toward the earth in search of din-din. ~ My grandmother is over eighty and still doesn't need glasses. Drinks right out of the bottle. ~ |

If I had been watching that frightening scenario, I might have fainted from holding my breath until the birdie had flown away safely. You captured that precarious moment very well with your illustrious pen, my friend! With love, Linda |
