OWL’S BABIES A suite of 3 poems BENJI 26 February 2011 An Einstein amongst puppies, without a mean cell in his beautiful black and brown body he will be one year old next month a wriggly bundle of love CLEO 26 February 2011 Markings too exquisite to take one’s eyes off she explains a lot very carefully in a gentle voice a cuddlepot of love BENJI AND CLEO AND FLICKA AND TIGGER AND DAISY 26 February 2011 It is strange how Benji and Cleo seem to be in constant contact with Daisy and Tigger and Flicka who sent them to me but, to the best of my knowledge, could never have met them in the flesh on Earth or in spirit in Heaven. There are strange and wonderful resemblances not in looks but in their behaviour and natures neither taught nor provoked by me between Benji and Daisy and between Cleo and Tigger that I can’t explain with logic. It feels to me that Daisy is Benji’s mentor and guiding spirit and Tigger is Cleo’s and Flicka has a loving hoof and muzzle and eye in it all too for he was known at his living stables to adore and be adored by all people and animals, but very especially dogs and cats and had his special friends amongst them. It is strangely beautiful too how Benji and Cleo didn’t have to learn to love and trust me. They already did from the first moment . . . as though knew . . . as though they had been prepped by my darlings Flicka and Tigger and Daisy already. Actually, none of this is strange to me at all. I am just trying to see it with an outsider’s eye. Owl |

You really don't have to see it with an outsider's eyes. You are fulfilled by these lovely creatures and that's what's important. Thanks for sharing your heart's feelings and I have to say you are very sweet because you do. I hope you are recovering from your ordeal with the thieves. The world is a good place with you in it and it's a shame they violated your space. Hang in there and give them all a hug and a pet for me. I give you a big hug as a cyber friend. What a beautiful tribute to the Kingdom of Animals, one that both wakes and humbles the human observer. |

What a delightfully sweet, kind and compassionate reply, Eric. Thank you. Yes, they are my life. Yes, thanks. I have recovered. It was awful to discover the theft, but I am very used to burglars - (not stealing copper pipes before, but other things inside my house and on my property – sometimes when I was here and sometimes when I was not). Most times it was a lot worse than this time, though. The worst of it this time was the violation of my space and property, the time loss, the water loss, the inconvenience of going without water for the night, the inconvenience of having to be home for the people to repair the damage, and worst of all, the cost. I was supposed to in on Wednesday morning to the bank (I don’t go to the office on Wednesdays – ostensibly work on my own company, but seldom have time to get round to it) to place the insurance claim, but Wednesday was too hectic, so I will go in tomorrow for that. I have given all my babies (Flicka, Tigger and Daisy in Heaven – and Benji and Cleo on Earth) their Uncle Eric hug and pet and they glowed with happiness and whinnied, meowed and barked their joyful thanks which they asked me to pass on to you – so “Whinny, Meeow, Woof to Uncle Eric”. I always seem to end up with the most loving and lovable animals imaginable. Thanks for the hug to me and here is one back to you. Thank you so much Spiros for finding joy in reading my poetry, especially when it is about my animals. Thank you EmmaRose (and welcome to Pip!) for your beautiful and knowledgeable response. I aspire to being as noble and wise and good as my fur-babies. Owl |

Oh, you sweetie! Thank you, Linda. Yes, I do know why - thank you, smiles. My babies are so happy that Auntie Linda is doing so much better AND they are happy that that makes their mommy happy too. It is so lovely to see you replying to our poetry, but it makes me worry that you could be overdoing things again. Lots of love Owl |
