It seems I'm not the only insomniac around here. Those birds are singing again... in the middle of the night. Something is a bit confused. I hope it's the birds. Ida Werrett |

Are they robins, sparrows, or finches? LOL, or are you waking up in the land of the midnight sun where they party all night in June and July? I enjoyed the ?who's confused? ending. |

I'm not an insomniac (mind you I was at one time) ~ but I love the night! Alas, I also love mornings and afternoons so I live on very little sleep ~ Yet I'm full of energy! Like clockwork, songbirds begin singing their little hearts out as I am trundling off to bed. I used to find it annoying as all get out until I decided to go with the flow and now they sing me to sleep! My dear Ida Belle, this is another snippet from your life that I can identify with! Birds really are starting their songs earlier than they used to! Perhaps the birds that are rising so early are cuckoos! lol Linda |

You ought to try daylight at midnight - I was out weeding last week at 3:00 am. Love this, Ida. A |

Lovely sharing of your night's reflections, dear Ida! I have observed that they do not always begin to sing at the exact same time, maybe it's a question of different light ...cloud-free or covered up firmament ... who knows. What I know for sure is that I love to hear them sing... here the first ones are usually the blackbirds. I hear certain melody-patterns repeat often. Maybe they are exchanging weather information or they dicuss the coming day's program? Or maybe they praise God and life. Love, Margherita |

dear Ida, you and I have the same problem and I can confirm that birds are sometimes insomniac, I heard some birds at four in the morning, thanks for the elegant way of the poem. yann |

Actually, I love to hear the birds sing at any time I just haven't ever heard them sing at night (2:00 or 3:OO in the morning) like they have the last week or so. I hear more than one type of bird singing. Ida |

It is indeed strange to hear birds singing at 2:00 or 3;00 a.m., Ida. Maybe it is the birds who are confused. Sometimes, I think Mother Nature is a bit confused, too. You are always such a joy to read. |

Ida, Too cute! This gave me a chuckle! After all, isn't sleep over-rated? or, you have some hyperactive little birdies out there! Enjoyed, miscellanea |

Ada, I am up at all hours.I work midnight to eight in the morning. So I have heard the night singing mocking birds often. I just goggled "night singing birds" and there is a lot of information and even videos of birds singing at night. Have fun with it. And thanks for your poem. I enjoy all you write. Oh,it said on the google site that the mocking bird is singing a courting song. trying to attract a mate. lol latearrival |
