Gentle child of the night
You have lured the angels near
With the fragrance of your breath
And the sweetness of your tear

Little curls on little head
Rested in a pillow deep
Little windows, little eyes
Covered with the shades of sleep

Who invited radiance
Reflected on a silver moon
To lay its glow of pearly white
Across the silence of your room?

There are no heavenly hosts above
Who would not care to gather near
And shine their mystic glow upon
The lovely creature sleeping here

An opal moon outshines the stars
And rests on shoulder’s tiny rim
But halo of an angel’s crown
Came down from heaven to touch her skin

As the mother of six, grandmother of twenty one and great grandmother of twenty five I can feel the love and devotion one feels for a sleeping child.  Beautifully done.

Love 'un stuff

As I read your poem I think of how I just watched my two grandsons fall to sleep. Little angels resting their heads and the heavenly host also watching too. Love your poem.

You share so much with us as you write of children and innocence.  I love how you see the world around you - and I am grateful that you share it with us.

Babysitting can be so special can't it?  I watch my two growing up and wonder how it all happened so fast?
