There was a time when I spent hours of my day just sitting in Aunt Judy's swing under the grape vines, eating concord grapes, and dreaming the day away. I imagined wild adventures and the faraway places I longed to see while never realizing... there was no better place to be. Ida Werrett |

Wonderful...I used to eat my Grandmothers concord grapes from the back yard. Unfortunately the swing was on the front porch...James |

Thank you, Kacy and James. This is a special memory for me. Actually, Aunt Judy was my great aunt. I wish I could get my hands on some of those concord grapes now but when I do find some they cost a fortune here. Ida |

The last day I spent with my great grandmother... The concords were leaving already, but the muscadine and scuppernong were hanging thick.. We both had grocery bags and were laughing about how the fat grapes seemed to be falling off into our bags, and about how we were eating more than we were "saving" Absolutely no better place to be. Thank you for the sunlit flashback, H |

How wonderful that you have this memory - and thank you for sharing it with us. I have that "most wonderful place" too and didn't realize it when I was there. There are other places, but that one place will be branded in my mind forever. I can see it, smell it and hear it. xooxox Alison |

Yo dear Ida, Nice work Hon. I hope those grapes were sweet. Those vines would keep you from getting too much sun burn. Love Bobby |

Oh yes, this is just so perfect.... all we need is that special place for making our memories. Funny how life works, we were so there, wishing on stars and throwing pennies in a pond. Always a treat to read you, Ms. madness~ |

The swing and the grapes make for a magical place indeed, dear Ida. Enjoyed this greatly. I adore to relax on a swing, even now when I find one. Love, Margherita |

Dear Ida, there is an old saying that we often can't see the forest for the trees. That is so true, as often we don't realize what we already have. great post my friend. |

Marchmadness - used to sit under those grape vines also just plucking and eating. Looking back it was a great place to be... BC |

Ida, I absolutely love this! It is Ida-unique, but simultaneously reminiscent of Robert Louis Stevenson's "The Swing" and reminds me of my annual two weeks' summer holiday with my mother at my cousins' house in Dundee, South Africa, where my mother and I both swang on the swing (not at the same time!) when I was a teenager. It brings back many other wonderful memories of a jacaranda carpet of purple petals and young love and a country town with sweet-smelling hedges. Thank you, Ida, thank you, thank you! Owl |
