perhaps it was your floor length modesty
how shear it was over your fragile
and how the buttons were undone over easy
with just your arms crossed for caution

or how you said you enjoy seeing your likeness
captured in a stranger's glances some times
just to see if you know yourself that well
when you don't wear those long sleeved excuses

I imagined you taller when you leaned down
and left your purse on the night stand
with it's straps down, unafraid to be opened
and you said you wished I knew you that well

and would I mind if you just tried me on first
like a woman does when there are mirrors around
and she sees that other woman wondering who she is
with some man that just might be more interesting

if her lady like was applied a little more sparingly
