Drawing concentric circles in the moist sand. Sea foam laps the edges of sinking feet as tiny industrious sand crabs nibble at toes. Salt spray tingles a twitching nose. The tide pool is cooler today, foretelling the change in weather as pillow clouds bounce in the cerulean canopy on their way to some sky-slumber party. Driftwood scatters itself along the shoreline pretending to be something else, awaiting the touch of a craftsman’s hands to bend its will and perspective. These are memories that anchor my morning as I sit cloistered in these Endless mountains. Beautiful as they can be, they do not capture me. My spirit lives beside the open sea. |

I believe this has many layers of depth to it upon reading. And a great sentiment about being free, truly free. |

Katriona, thank you, for I feel the same about your poetic talents and spirit. Jer, the only way I can be happy is to be free. The coastline, open sea, always works for this wayfaring wanderer! LOL |

Hi Midnitsun...nice build, I really began the read thinking you were living by the sea but the end gives the right position of the poem, your memories are so vivid that it brings exquisite sensations to the reader with the lovely plays of the ocean...I enjoyed very much. yann |

Kacy, I am beside your sea right now because you simply don't leave anything out! It is like a French classic art movie in slow motion where you can feel the textures, see the colours and shapes, smell in this case, the sea, feel the approaching winter, and ponder the artist's ponderings. We are like clay in your potter's hands. You take us eXACtly where you want to! I must say, though, that the mountains DO capture me too. Owl |

Ohh, the vast horizons yes they give a greater sense of freedom than the mountains, unless you are on the peak, that's different. W o n d e r f u l sea-memory-poem, dear Kacy. A true joy to read. Love, Margherita |

Yann, I love the coast, lived by the sea most of my life, and will return to the Pacific soon. AW, I'm happy you enjoyed this one. Owl, yes, I love mountains too..but mostly, the ones that hug the coastline. LOL Margherita, you are right about the mountain tops. In my dreams, I've climbed Machu Picchu, Denali, and Everest. Bloodline, I love Monterrey. That is a wonderful place to walk the shoreline of California, my birth state. Thank you for your kind reply! |
