The midnight scene lay softly Silver-muted Beneath a milk white eerie moon That peeped and smiled through Gnarled old fingers Tangoing to the wind's wild tune Sleeping trees were dressed in Night's black splendour Shimmering lilies clad The diamond studded lake A stealthy fox had changed to pewter Romping with his playful mate The farmhouse groaned and slumbered Under beams of dark, old wood Glass reflecting the stars cold wonder And the brown owl's keen, sharp look As curling claw and golden eye Sweep down in swift attack A squeak, a cry of pain Then stillness once again And sleek feathers gather height In the cool stark autumn night |

You paint midnight well H, my favorite time. One can almost see, smell and hear the scenes. |
