One more in the "Love Affairs that didn't quite make it" series. We promised each other the stars with our sweet, gentle words of love; in my heart, She was "The One." The One we all hope we might find somewhere, out there and, She was beautiful; my heart was lost. Eagerly, we planned the path we would travel together, forever, to walk in the Sun, then, one day, came silence... as if She had never existed... and taught me the heartbreaking cost of falling in love with a beautiful dream; sweetest promise of love, seeming truthfully made. I cannot believe it was only a game... there must be some reason why She is not there. The words that we used, were not playthings to squander; those sweetest heart whispers... and I am afraid something has happened to Her... but, I know not, what; and, with not knowing; creeps blackest despair. And, so... I must wait, with all hope softly fading in the way that sweet dreams of the night, swiftly flee in the cold light of morning; but, when I think of Her... my heart softly whimpers for what seemed so bright. For She held my heart, and my soul in the palm of Her hand, and I love Her... though, it seems to be that we were not destined to share with each other, the dream... which would truly, have been my delight. Yet... still, I will tend the flame; still, I will hold faint hope perhaps, one day She might whisper to me; if not, then, forever, She will be part of me; She will sleep in my heart, beyond Eternity. 'Bye for now, D. |

A majestic ache, as strong as granite mountains, and as everlasting. Superb. |
