If I were an artist I would paint you I would make you immortal with my brush Trace each line to capture the essence true In that way, however far, I could touch Caress with strokes of tender loving hand The details gone over with greatest care Do what I do to exult if I can To hope of the angels their gift to share Colors only mutely compare to you A pale copy my skills as artist test The limits of your beauty as the truth And which colors chosen honor you best This lonely artist works with brush and paint To be close to you, his own earthbound saint |
