Night Time Soft light shines down my street The tapping sound of dancing feet As daylight sighs, night time falls From a branch an owl does hoot and call At a stalking cat in the gloom A cheerful fire paints an empty room Chuckling windows smile and looks At flickering shadows reading books As the light hides in cracks and nooks The cuckoo pops out right on time The old grandma clock sounds the chime Softly, as if time has become a crime The fire burns low in red hot cinders The grate contracts and wheezes A draft blows down the chimney And the wanton cuckoo sneezes Shadows lengthen across the room Closing in on the dying fire Now sleep becomes the night For now is the witching hour. |

What a fun write! It's well crafted with good imagery, and left me wanting another bedtime story! |
