I am dying a slow tortured death
One more day removed from your breath
Still there is nothing left here to do
Just waiting with arms held out for you

Time does not heal nor purify
The sun penetrates not the sky
Maybe if I put myself on the moon
I can avoid this sickened swoon

Becoming your very own sycophant
Thinking of how you did so enchant
Took possession of a starved mind
And froze me somewhere in time

There is still hope for me to hold onto yet
So I will not seethe in what-if regrets
As long as I breathe it’s never too late
So here I remain in tortured wait

You twine your name well with your place
of birth, Sir..

I can hear now the long lonesome sounds
of the river winding...

be that as it may, this is a peculiarly
lovely write.

I, too, found the last stanza to be the best in a very good write...really like the message that it leaves for the reader...

The loneliness, the agony of waiting, were expressed so beautifully. Thanks for sharing.
