the cost of admission (title stolen from a reply by steavenr) |

* * * I knew about the ruse and I waited to be told the truth (wittingly--unwittingly) my silence stole the spot from stage and blinded me stage-center. So I stood up as not to ruin the curtain call of us-- and tossed my roses on the stage waiting for the extra act reconciliation even while I stood outside waiting for acknowledgment "Sign my program, would you please?" Then I thought that they would see I played apart-- it says so here: Clair: the audient (my name) but my moment never came as I stood outside the cast watching them blow kisses then they went on to their party to wait for the reviews. * * * * * "Scathing brilliance!" (New York Times) "Five-star entertainment plus" I wept as they rejoiced. "...superb casting overcame the labored writing of cliche'" Impromptu had saved the day on the night I lost my voice... * * * * * Home, again, it's 3:16, I'm out of coffee, so I make some tea and add vanilla too, to sooth the bitter sweet. * * * * * All that it takes to lose one's way is to stare at blinking lights so long that they imprint the eyes blazing louder than old Sol... (sometimes that keeps me up all night) It's why advisors preach and scold-- "Write from what you know." They chant, as I confessed: "I do not know" the ruse became reality as proven quite collectively by thunderous applause. * * * |

lovely metaphor...indeed, 'all the world's a stage'...it's just the cost of admission sometimes that's overbearing... |

All that it takes to lose one's way is to stare at blinking lights so long that they imprint the eyes I'm coming over there so I can follow you and find where you buy those magical pens... Maybe if I buy enough, I can write just one sentence that's half as good as your every word. *S* Brilliant!! |

Stop with that, you! (Kacy, you know I'm talking to you!) If I tried to do that I'd end up in traction. and megs? I'd wish you warm hugs and love, but I'm hot, so I'll wish you cool breezes and a few of those little umbrella drink concoctions, delivered to you by a hot guy in a loin cloth. (oh...sorry, I do get carried away.) And while I'm still here, thanks to howardstu--this one has been roiling in me, and it was through reading his (her?) their stuff that I was able to find a format I liked. And now--it's nearing primetime! oy Love to all. |

You guys are definitely the best. Inspiring and supportive, and always a comfort. I'm not worthy. |

Okay, I am offically speechless (again) by your writing. Your images are so strong and you use words in a way that makes a poem stand apart as yours. I like this a lot. Again, I like your poetry a lot. Alison |
