Born way back in seventy six, America, the beauty land, Of ocean wide and mountain tall, From wispy cloud to golden sand. Signed upon a document, fathers strong and bold. Began the story of USA, And that is ever told. That pilgrims started way far back, By settling the unsettled wild. They grew their cities, families too, and gave birth to many a child. Then came the Revolution, When it really all began. From heroes made on Bunker Hill, to the night ol' Revere ran. Then the Declaration was, Gleaming on the parchment. Signed by those so daring, Who created the immortal moment. Then comes justice, The elegiac Civil War. And America learns to free, Her enslaved sons, and more. But not until, that great day, When we sing in all honest glee, In the mind of Dr.King, Thank god, at last, we're free. Now here we are, post- Vietnam When so we came up short. But conceded loss, it is, Our very last resort. And trying not to enter war, I right this poem for piece. And in trying to promote harmony, I hope hate will forever cease. Today I feel proud to be, A Part of Something more, When I cheer for team USA, Or hang the flag outside my door. America, the land I love, Where I can speak my mind. America, land of liberty, You've something for all to find. I vow to make you better, To fly your triumphant colors, To respect thy all, Fathers, mothers, sisters; brothers. You're where I live, and where I shall die. So on this day, Red White and Blue, will, and shall fly. I will always be loyal, And I will loudliest say That I am proud to be an American, for It's dear old Independence Day. |
