Face to Face With The Enemy

I have watched for you,
But you crept in anyways.
I have seen what you do
I know what you are.
You have quite a reputation you know.
Too many have fallen from your sick might.

You like to draw your battles out,
Lurking, staying unseen so you can
slowly sap the strength and will
from all the brave ones that would defy you.

You think you will make me succumb
to the despair and the pain you bring villain.
You think I will lay down
and accept the fate you would have for me.

I will not.

I have never been one for sidestepping,
never been one to run from things.
You are strong but you have been beat before.

I have my love beside me
I have friends and family
My feet are planted, and my will is iron.
Day after day I stand.
Morning after morning I will rise
And go face to face
with the enemy.

For my sister-inlaw Paula who is battling cancer

Tim,

My youngest daughter, she’s only 47, is currently battling breast cancer bravely. She always was a tough egg. She will win, I'm sure. The whole family is behind her.
