WHISPERS IN THE SUNLIGHT August 1999 I have sometimes encountered it and it has always come as a surprise. It can be found in the human race, often and in many of the species, especially if you look for it. It comes in little waves, and slips away, unless you hold it for a moment, and remember it afterwards. If you mock it, it will be taken from you and you will not recognise it again. The secret is to notice it, to enjoy it and to pass it on: altruism in its purest form. Owl |

I was moved twice in this post. The first time from reading your whispering poem and the second time when reading Ku's response. Two very fine poets with altruistic intentions in life! Love to you both! Linda |

Dear Kushal, my tears are of gratitude that my dedication of this poem has lifted your spirits and brought light to your darkness. If the poem had been written for you initially, I would not have referred to altruism as being fleeting, because yours is permanent and so compassionate and so many of us depend on it. Thank you for both your very beautiful replies. I have rewritten my responses to the other beautiful replies several times as I am so very moved by the wonderful warmth emanating from such kind and compassionate hearts and it has felt as though anything I wrote to one person, implied that it didn’t apply to another, which isn’t the case - and yet repeating the same thing to each of you seemed too easy - and lumping my replies to everyone else all into one didn’t seem fair - so please will you all understand my dilemma. I am afraid I have settled for the last option, but I believe that you will all understand and forgive me. So, in order of appearance in the replies, Kacy (for both your replies), Bill, Margherita, Linda, Marc-André and Yann, thank you for your warmth, compassion, kindness and readiness to be there for Kushal just when he needed it.
