"Holding On"

I try to tell myself that I am dealing
Despite the hollow pain I feel inside
This wound, it seems, is still quite far from healing
How long until my falsehoods are belied?

I wonder, is this more than I can handle?
This burden seems and awful lot to bear
What used to be a blaze is now a candle
Its glow oppressed by shadows everywhere

Does my sorrow hold you like an anchor?
Is my heartache forcing you to stay?
Do you gaze at me through veils of rancor,
Praying that I'll let you go away?

What will it take to put these doubts behind me?
How can I bring this mourning to an end,
When everything I see somehow reminds me
I've lost my guiding light, I've lost a friend?

Fine writing...seems like we hold on to relationships that are or were valuable to us longer...James

You touched my heart with this one, and it's melody plays on long after reading the words.

I loved the way it flowed and the way it makes you look at relationships
