Bugs And Slugs

Oh how I miss her darling pout,
And our time hunting bugs and slugs.
I miss all her silly little questions,
But, most of all I miss all those hugs.

Where did all these years go?
However, I think we spent them well.
My little Dorothy is no more,
Who she is now, only time will tell.

She was our cute little tomboy once,
Now she's concerned with hair and clothes.
I guess we have to move on with time,
Our connection changes I suppose?

I don't see her quite as often,
She's with friends mostly now.
She's cheer leading, and in school plays,
Not at all shy to take her second bow.

I see so much of me in her,
Not sure if that's good or bad?
Still she's her own little person,
So funny, and caring, just like her Dad.

Our lovely 11-year old hippie child,
A love child right from the start.
No matter how old this angel gets,
We'll still be connected at the heart.

I love her to the stars and moon, and back,
I say it to her with arms held wide, "Twice!"
I couldn't be prouder of her than I am,
She's smart, witty, and all sugar and spice!

Love, Gramma

Look at her now Maureen!  She is taller than me!   She is a Vancouver All-star Cheerleader.

So beautiful, dear Sharon, yes they do change so quickly it seems. Tori is a marvel and if she has taken after you that's surely all positive!

Enjoyed your Christmas cards for your two gems very much.

Love,
Margherita

Precious, priceless poetry, dear Poetess! I have the biggest smile on my face right at the moment. Tori is as beautiful and full of spirit as her "Gramma"!

An endearing, tender-hearted piece of posie! A keepsake treasure for sure for your beloved Tori!

Blessings of love and joy to your family, this Christmas!

Lucky you to have Tori too. These two young girls will bring so many more smiles as they continue to grow. They will remember you  for all the fun you have had together. As one who has many grandchildren I can tell you this. A letter to you one day, with all their heart showing will bring tears to your eyes. Better than any love letter a lover could have written. Let me know when one arrives.  I treasure one I just received this month from my thirty two year old grandson. latearrival

"I guess we have to change with time,
our connection changes I suppose?"

So aptly put about the connection, never broken, but subtly changed over time, between grandma and grandkids. I have 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grands. Each relationship is different yet each is special. I enjoy your writing so much because it always speaks to the heart.

It unbelievable how she's grown Sharon ... and so beautifully. She was a lucky girl to have a Gramma who fed her imagination and spirit, and now she's an even luckier young lady to have a Gramma who will always be there with fairies waiting in the wings when she needs them.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Thank you for all your nice comments.  I couldn't get back in here as I have had the girls for two days, while parents are off to Christmas parties, and to give them a break to shop.  I had a BLAST!  Thanks again all, and

Dear Sharon that is such a heart warming tender poem about your lovely grand daughter. My One complaint is when you wrote
that she was no more. I felt so sad when I thought she must have passed away but as I read on, my spirits rose again when I realized what you meant. She is a very lucky young lady in having a Gramma like you. All the very best for Christmas dear friend for you and your family. Love.
