The Queen

Seated high atop a gilded seat, in self righteous indignation
Ensconced with pride and great conceit
Looks down upon her nation

Thinking:
How lowly and reviled you are, rushing to and fro
kicking up the dust and dirt
that tickles her upturned nose

What you do - matters not
and who you are - even less
for all are here for her contempt
and to excuse here ignorance

Crowing:
I'm the only one who knows
the only one who sees
what you should and should not do
and who you ought to be

Full of her lies and trivial beliefs
judging everyone's mistakes
breaking hearts and dashing hopes
She's enjoying the ruin she makes

With scathing eyes and sharpened tongue
she tilts her head back in conceit

Sadly for her she misjudges her worth
and promptly loses her seat

The moral and the purpose of this sad and humbling story...
to relay a tale of ignoble fame
and the path of misplace glory

Crown neither arrogance as queen
nor distain as lord and master
Take a lesson from fallen grace
lest you reap the same disaster

Do not applaud and sing your songs for vanity laid low
for this story ends itself
the same as most reigns go

The Queen is dead...

Long live the Queen

If I don't say it...who will?

Right on!  Do they say that anymore.   Loved this part, and you wrote of all the Queen bees in this world really well.  They usually do reap what they sow.

Crown neither arrogance as queen
nor distain as lord and master
Take a lesson from fallen grace
lest you reap the same disaster

Obviously even at my age, we have Queens.

Happy Holidays

Thank you Mysteria!

This piece was actually a part of my final project for my literature class.  We were randomly and annonomously given the names of others in class and had to create a story, poem, allogry, etc. with them as the focus.  No names were used but we kept trying to guess who everyone got. It was a lot of fun!

If I don't say it...who will?
