"Shadow Box"

Newfound grief calls out to old
And sorrow does the same
Exhuming sins from days gone by
For which I was to blame

Where once I saw a guiding light
Foreboding shadows dwell
What seemed to me like heaven, once,
Now feels a lot like hell

A prisoner to memories,
That's what I've always been
Despite my constant vain attempts
To wash away my sins

A shadow box for misery
Is all I've left to share
With those who've found their destinies
Just far too much to bear

I felt every word of this.  They do say, misery loves company. Somber topic but dead on target. Excellent.
