I saw the shadow of what I used to be in a dream I've never had before.

       I didn't recognize it.

The mass of black it cast over my mind was suffocating.

       Dehumanizing.

I died a few deaths before I could even begin to sort right from wrong -
   Even then,

                nothing made sense.

So I'm leaving life to fate. I made the motion of shooting a pistol and said,

(SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE THIS)

          Then I realized,
I can't control it, but I can change it.

           So I did.
           And no one liked it.

But they never liked me to begin with.

Emily, Emily, Emily,

How you do go one.  I'm sure they do like you.

Love Bobby

You can't embrace the "like" from others if you dislike yourself. So I've heard.

"So I'm leaving life to fate. I made the motion of shooting a pistol"

I relate to this, though I really did shoot a 9mm, in the air

I like you those who don't like you aren't worth the breath you take to sigh

Dear Emily,

I really liked this loads. It was very good. You sound like a girl that I'd give a beer to, even out of my own case.

I like the format you tend to write in. It's artistic and interesting. Don't change for anybody but you, 'cause the way I see it, other people don't have to live with you all the time for the whole of your life, but you sure as heCK do.

Even if you don't like yourself, that doesn't stop others from liking you.
I like you

I like it!  And you know, sometimes you just have to "do you" and not worry about anybody else.

If I don't say it...who will?

This is amazing. Your words are, for me, very relatable. You have a gift, this is really quite incredible. Thank you.
