perhaps just soggy wind sticking to lingering meanderings
or those cassandra moments when rincon is close again
like the saliva side of a warm woman smile, just distant
but touchable, the smell of sweet smoke kind that is there after

mexico is not much different now, twenty years more mature
but the sidewalks still find my feet at dawn with friendly sounds
like the laces dragging across concrete seams, guitar picks
on every other sigh of a strum, between the lines of empty

I learned spanish while I was in china last year avoiding boredom
and now these women realize that everything shows when they cry
and that my eyes have seen their souls before, but now more often
when they thought I was just another gringo with cigars and whiskey

and  secrets that never seeped the velvet of a holy joe confessional

"and now these women realize that everything shows when they cry"

i wonder at times...
how you know so much of
past the skin of women

I once went to a holy joe confessional, but the moment wasn't as beautiful as the poem here.  Love the pic too.

Missed you.

It's about time you got back in here with my fix. *G* Word withdrawal is just not a pretty sight! *S* Of course... I almost missed this... for some reason, I just don't associate you with "mundane" LOL

Stunning images, beautiful work!!

The spectacular picture had me spellbound for quite a while ... and the text of your incredibly profound poem represents quite the challenge, there is so much seeping through ... in poetic perfection.

Sending you a big hug for coming back, you were missed!

Love,
Margherita

You have such a multi-lingual talent for the art of expressing grace and visceral roughness all in one breath!  How some things speak the same language no matter the locale, and words become mere shadows on wings, like the tips of your gull's feathers...but it's heart orbs in feathers...lofts on the thought and sunlight.

I'm hooked on the imagery, too.  ~K

layered prose, his words
softly unsticking her heart,
she's earthbound no more.
