"Exercising Empathy"

To exercise this empathy is not an easy task
Emotions tend to carry you away
And who would ever willingly probe into them, I ask?
Unnecessary burdens, as some say

Yet somewhere hidden deep beneath the bedlam they project
Emotions serve to guard our inner-selves
By being so chaotic they unknowingly protect
That part of us where few desire to delve

So even though it's hard to use this gift that's been bestowed
Unwillingly upon my weary heart
I pray some good will come of it not too far down the road
So someday empathy and I can part

Well pondered and well written ... and I do agree with you.

This went straight from your heart to your finger tips......beautiful.

It bypassed the mind completely........ thats how it should be if we must exercise empathy..

Love it
