Come, closer to my
bedside,dark winter shadow
join me in dreams,
bring snow, black trees,
sharp lingering thorns jagged,
tearing, drawing scarlet blood.
Cold but never more
alive, moon beaming through
bitter fumes of ice
mist, wind tapping rythmic
hypnotic mystery with bare
bone twig fingers.Frost
filled ground hard as
stone,glittering pathways for
amber eyed foxes, wooley,
leaving only pungent scent
as their witness,then
gone into darkness before
dawns black slash splits
night,stars,day,sunglare.

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage. Lao Tzu 6th century BC.

Come, closer to my
bedside,dark winter shadow
join me in dreams,

my favourite part, full of anticipation and longing for cold, dark winter nights & cosy warm fires, well worth waiting for...

You capture the pale eyes of winter and it's cold invasion of icy fingers.  I'm left shivering, listening to the rain rush the eaves and sough against the roof during these wee hours of sleeplessness.  Yet you leave me mesmerized in the clutch of diamonds that only winter splays in spangle and moonlight, in sonatas of search and silence.  The ghosts of summer all slumber but for the foxes with their amber eyes, and I am cherishing the warmth of my bed....

How beautifully you paint in frosted vespers, still winding Goldenrose through the thorns!

Very compelling images here, Goldenrose.  You have produced a stark, yet heartfelt piece of art, with crisp word selection, and rivetting description.

This is just the way I remember winter, Phil, when I used to live with winter. Fantastic imagery.

I reread this now that winter is knocking at the door and you describe it perfectly, the cold dark nights, silhouetted trees and bright moon...brrrh I'm off for a hot drink.

Hidden inside those winter trees awaits a beautiful magic, only when the soft, fluffy flakes of love land upon them, do they come alive, brightly glistening in the blue moonlight of loves night.
