--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is not I who flutters your lids, races
the beat of a yearning heart, speaks
soft whispers till the break of dawn.

It is not I who shivers in wait,
listening for the echo of a lingering
sigh.   No, it is not I.

Nor is it I who climbs the vine into
clouds of waiting tears, reaching for
the searing rays of a sun filled with
comet’s tails.

No, it is not I, nor shall it ever be
for it is we....we both who madly
desire the shadow that mingles,
the trace that tingles and the kiss
that lasts until a breath caresses
closed lids....long into the
still of of a sweltering night.

And that is when it's really worth having... when it is both. *S*

This is so very beautiful, my friend! *S*

I remember this one, just as powerful today as when I first read it.
Good to see you here again. You should
stay...and write your awesome poetry.

Aw, dear Magnus, this is beautiful and I have missed reading your poetry, too.  I should go back into the archives and read, because there is heartspeak and wisdom in what you write.   I am always touched in the reading.

Hope you are staying warm as these cold November days descend.  ~Karen

Sure glad I looked up this poem, Magnus!  You put a flutter into this poet's heart just by the perfect rhythm and rhyme, let alone being swept away with the romance of it all! Wow!

Loved the turn around in the last stanza-no, it is the two!   Great job and a keeper!
