Finding myself without choice
I am forced to concede
to the necessity and even solace
of silence.

If only silence was gilded,
as the poets are want to say,
but there is no gold inside this void
this muted mind is leaden,

weighted with all the words that have gone
unspoken,
uncried,
unscreamed.

My voice is swallowed
somewhere too deep inside
to find it and I am left clinging

to the hope that there is validity
in this numbness, that it is
but a lesson to be learned
and comprehension will soon be within my grasp.

Silence may be golden
to some;
but had I the words with which to do so,
I would argue otherwise.

I used to think that way, but now feel I need silence to just keep grounded.  Nicely done.

Sometimes silence...is just silence,
neither golden nor tarnished.
Many nights and mornings I am up at 3-4 AM,
just enjoying silent moments.
But I also understand the stifled scream...when silence just doesn't comfort.

Luminous One, there are so many quotable lines that I am hard-pressed to single any of them out as my favs!

~ "solace of silence"

~ "there is no gold inside this void
this muted mind is leaden,"

~ "weighted with all the words that have gone
unspoken,
uncried,
unscreamed."

Gosh, I'm going to end up having quoted the entire poem! So, know that I find it a remarkable piece of writing and am saving it!

Take care!
Giving you a warm, understanding, compassionate hug,

Linda

Some things are beyond comprehension, dear one... But whether your words are screamed or even whimpered... please know you are heard... and loved.
