Someone, somewhere, sometime long ago
told me I had to be
PERFECT
It's sad that now I don't remember who it was...
but then, no one ever does

Maybe, just maybe, somewhere, sometime long ago - I was
Perfect speech, perfect smile, perfect laugh
Absolutely and in every way...

If this is true, then it was long ago
But since that time, I've tried and tried
And failed again and again
To be what they say I ought to be
PERFECT

I stand so still and try so hard that
I forget to laugh
I forget to smile
I forget to speak

All for the sake of
PERFECT

How I hate that word...

Regardless,

Someone, somewhere, sometime long ago told me I had to be
And imperfect, I believed it...

If I don't say it...who will?

This reminds me of the one I wrote called "Me"

I hate to feel the need to try.

Love it.
