C.O.D.

Monday - Dead flowers.
She sent them C.O.D.
I guess a smarter person would have understood.
Me, I paid the bill - gave him a tip,
sent her a card in return

"Love is Believing" it said,
"And I will always believe."

Thursday - my card came back
full of rose thorns.
Surely she's was making a point.
So I sent her a dozen thornless, Red Roses.

"Love is Understanding" the attached card read.

Saturday, another C.O.D.
Inside the box was a gun -
one bullet -
a note -
"For you!" it read.

Sunday I went to church.
She was there, in our pew.
I gave her the box she sent,
the gun in pieces,
the bullet expended and a card
with a big red heart on the front,
a hole in it's center,
a picture of me -
”D E C E A S E D “ scrawled across my face.

I walked down the aisle,
out the front doors,
stood in the cleansing sun. . .
revelation, after all.

Came across this, and a few others I know where posted, in a box of my 'stuff' in the attic (for some obnoxious reason we're going through the attic) the other day from about 5 years ago and couldn't find it in the archives so . . .

I really like the first part with the dead flowers being sent COD. I smiled at the thought of the guy being paid and given a tip but I'm not sure if I was supposed to.

I think your smile was well placed my friend. And thanks for reading/commenting.

Look forward to reading some of yours.

I'm Texan too...the Houston Metroplex, just far enough from downtown to be too close far as I'm concerned.  And I love good scify, but not much into fantasy though. also picky about my scary movies.....like ones like THE RUINS, THE CAVE, and things like LEGEND, DAY OF DESTRUCTION, RIGHT AT YOUR DOOR, BUGS, AND SUCH.

Any way, walk easy,my friend

Y'know, you have such a potent mind, that intrinsically relates the picture with the words.  How much I enjoy reading your genius, and I humbly smile at the humorous and the heartfelt that you grace us with Jimmy.  Good luck with the attic!  A treasure trove always.

funny how some communicate, sending letters with non-verbals....great read....your use of indirect tension is outstanding

Jimmy,

I am glad that you found this one and that you shared it.  It's sad - but it's liberating too.
