There he sat With his September coat on Fleeced and flasked with a boot to match, He sat on his rocking chair, Watching the cars pass Like people do when time watches them. He sat with the sun next to his roof, With his carpenter nails ledged into their roots. He sat and watched the children play With their hands like clay Pacing the ball between their legs On the fields between the stop light and electric poles. He sat so long, His eyes could tell the night was young The night with its dark legs Covering the blue sky and sun. A man who could see, That a boy was no longer he, A man that could sit and watch As the day unraveled. |

So he got up on his feet and the night he did greet, and out to it he went his strength not yet spent. He found a young babe about whom he could rave. and gave her all his love. He fear he did shove. hey great poem!!! |
