They are amidst us every day On the street corners In doorways At stop lights Do you see yet? They reach out to us every day Ask for a helping hand A chance, some change, a smoke Do you hear them? They all have a story Triumphs, trials, memories.... Lessons learned and some still vague Do you know them? They smile back when you smile They look into your eyes when you look into theirs They chat with you when you are friendly They share what they have when you share with them They give freely of their time and wisdom when you give of yours 'They' are 'us', precious souls who happen to be homeless Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves. |

Lorenn ... Loved the "Identification" aspect of this, seeing the "other" as an extention of ourselves, which is so important in cultivating compassion and treating each other with respect, wihout judgement. Good write, thank you. ~tera Man was born free, and he is everywhere in chains." - Jaque Rouseau |
