On Christmas morn, she sits alone,
Waiting by her telephone,
For a call that will not come,
In the silence and the numb.

Twenty-fifth, day of December,
Eleventh day, New York, September,
Days and nights, all meld as one,
Husband, father, mother's son.

I want to be a fireman,
When you grow up, my son you can,
Standing proud, and standing tall,
When call came in, he gave his all.

Smoking ruins of ground zero,
Funeral bier, of fallen hero,
From the ashes, a people rise,
While back at home, a mother cries.

On Christmas morn, she sits alone,
Waiting by her telephone,
For a son, who will not call,
Who in her heart, stands ever tall.

I actually know one of those mothers, and her pain has not even faded.  This is going to stay in people's minds forever I think Tim.

Tim... your words are very poignant and true

A sad poem on the still glowing embers of the fires of 9/11.  Love, Joyce
