The creeping hours have caught
Me unaware. And now through my window
Spills the dawn and hazy lemon
Summer air like some full tide
That bears the coloured barque
Of day, rich-laden on its breast

Above the lawn a cypress lifts
Its sable sword in dark salute
To speed the morning moon to rest
And bid adieu to night

Blue Wisteria clings to eaves
And curled azaleas poise like
Yellow birds of paradise

The sun has yet to open wide
Its tight shut eyes to paint
Light strokes of rosy pink
Upon the grass still quilted
Grey with dew so no bird sings

But on my senses steal the first
Faint scent of earth and newly
Opened wings and leaves
The breath of blossoms
Lingering like a lover's kiss
Upon the lips of morn .....

Oh boy do I want to go there.  What a serene and peaceful existence you must have.  That was just a lovely setting, put to words.  Beautiful!

In reading these exquisite words I felt flooded with emotion. A wondrous place as the picture shows and you caught its magic and rendered it in words with infinite sensitivity and skill.

Want to sit there with you ...

Thank you Arctic Wind, soon the cold arctic winds will be blowing here where I am, so I feel have to praise the lovely lingering summer as much as possible to make it last even longer.  We are into a lovely spell here, an Indian summer in fact.

Heart2Heart - a most gorgeous graphic to go with a stunning write. I can picture in my mind these words overlaid on the graphic...

Bravissima!  A standing ovation, Katriona.  Wow!  That last stanza was just glorious!

Thanks so much for lifting my spirits on this somewhat dreary day here in the desert
